Andrew A. Adams
Founder and Principal
Andy Adams co-founded SBA with Mindy Zatto to help clients solve complex problems associated with benefit plans. Andy has over 28 years of industry experience, specifically in benefit plan administration and managing large organizations.
Most recently, Andy was Chief Operating Officer of a national consulting and outsourcing company. He has deep experience in developing and managing recordkeeping operations, systems, consulting and call center units, and has led sales units to impressive numbers. Andy has successfully implemented organization-wide initiatives for selling strategically and Six Sigma Quality.
Today Andy works with corporate and government clients for a wide array of services including vendor searches, vendor recovery, vendor management, contract negotiations, plan audits, complex implementations and project management and much more for defined contribution, defined benefit and health & welfare administration.
He is a graduate of The Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in Industrial Management.
Mindy J. Zatto F.S.A., E.A., M.A.A.A., M.S.P.A.
Founder and Principal
Mindy Zatto co-founded Strategic Benefits Advisors, Inc. in 2002. She has over 25 years of advanced industry experience and is widely recognized as a leader in the employee benefits field. She has assisted numerous Fortune 500 companies in plan design and implementation, benchmarking, merger/acquisition due diligence and protected benefit analysis, plan terminations, cost studies, union negotiations, early retirement enhancement programs, and nondiscrimination testing and compliance solutions.
Mindy has also worked extensively in the areas of benefit calculation audits, historical data clean-up, administrative system design, participant self-service Web application design, administrative reengineering, comprehensive benefit statement development, legal case support, government filing requirements and compliance programs, and countless special projects to address significant client issues. In addition, she has helped third party providers in the industry evaluate potential new capabilities and product offerings that they can bring to the market and has assisted them in the due diligence, the development, and the implementation of these new services.
Mindy’s areas of expertise encompass defined benefit, defined contribution and health and welfare programs – both from a strategic plan design level as well as an administrative level. She was an industry pioneer in the defined benefit outsourcing arena and developed one of the first complete defined benefit administration practices in the country.
Mindy majored in applied mathematics at Harvard College and graduated cum laude. She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, an Enrolled Actuary, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries, and a Member of the Society of Pension Actuaries.
Jay C. Schmitt A.S.A.
Jay Schmitt has over 20 years of benefits consulting experience. Launching his career as a retirement actuary, Jay gained firsthand experience with the complex technical aspects of defined benefit, defined contribution, and health and group employee benefit programs.
Benefits administration and systems to support a plan sponsor’s administrative activities quickly became an interest, and Jay spent several years developing and supporting customized administrative applications for large, complex clients. The group he ran supported administrative systems, produced benefit statements, performed data consolidation and cleanup activities, and performed special actuarial and administrative projects for clients. He also acquired valuable industry insight at Hewitt Associates and Northern Trust Retirement Consulting. Most recently, Jay served as Director of Client Services for a leading provider of employee benefits administration software.
Jay earned a Masters of Actuarial Science from Georgia State University and a B.S. in Mathematics from Davidson College. Jay is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries.
M. Lynn Bullard A.S.A., E.A., F.C.A.
Lynn Bullard’s career in employee benefits began in 1984. She has provided consulting and administrative services to companies ranging in size from 500 to 75,000 employees, in a variety of industries. She has managed complex client relationships and been accountable for the delivery of all services offered by a national consulting and outsourcing company, establishing a solid business partnership with her clients. She has consulted with her clients to benchmark their retirement programs, establish overall plan objectives, evaluate alternative plan designs, and implement and communicate plan changes and choices.
Lynn has a strong background in the defined benefit and defined contribution spaces. Her experience includes actuarial projects, implementations of recordkeeping clients, and consulting and compliance services for both defined benefit and defined contribution plans. She has participated in all aspects of benefits delivery, from sales and implementation to ongoing administration and client management. Lynn also held an interim position as a corporate benefits manager overseeing plan administration and conversion activity.
Lynn majored in actuarial science at Georgia State University and graduated magna cum laude. She is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and is an Enrolled Actuary.
